Our Team

I was raised in Anchor Point with amazing family support and good friends. I was taught to appreciate the environment and grew up with a fierce love for Alaska's beautiful and numerous ecosystems. I was given independence to explore and venture out with my friends but was also taught the values of good work ethic and spent quite a bit of time as a kid helping at the greenhouse and "bagging dirt" for the family business.

I am a Certified Paraoptometric Technician at HEC. I do a number of things to assist the doctor, some of which includes recording patient health history, pretesting, and eye health screenings with our advanced imaging equipment.

I absolutely love to hike, fish, and generally explore. Over the last few years, my boyfriend and I have been experimenting with building our own furniture and our love of that is sure to never fade. We often spend our nights planning and creating new things for our little home and playing with our 2-year-old German Shepherd, Ella.

One of the best parts about my job is working with such a tight-knit and friendly community. I only see some of our patients a few times per year, but when I do, it's like seeing an old friend again.

It has been fantastic to work for an encouraging doctor that emphasizes the importance of continuing education and provides us all with opportunities to advance our knowledge and skill set. This work environment never feels stagnant, it's always changing and advancing to better care for our community. This steady evolution of our medical office and working with an amazing team makes for a work environment that I enjoy being a part of.

I'm a Southern girl who has happily embraced my inner Alaskan. Born and raised in Charleston, South Carolina, my parents taught my four brothers and me to appreciate every moment we spend outside. My husband and I moved to Homer in 2015 for his job in the Coast Guard and quickly fell in love with the “Cosmic Hamlet by the Sea”!

I'm a Certified Paraoptometric Technician, so I get to work directly with you, the patient! I assist the doctor with a great number of things, including acquiring images and scans, patient health history and initial medical testing. I also fill the roles of Personnel Manager and Compliance Manager, so I not only work to make sure that we have the best staff possible, but also to ensure that the clinic follows all state and federal regulations.

When not at the office, you can usually find me having an adventure with my husband and our "fur child” Jack, an American Brittany. We love to hike, fish, sail, travel and spend as much time as we can on the water. In addition, I enjoy cooking, running half marathons and watching or trying almost any sport possible.

One of my favorite things about my job is getting to know all of our amazing patients. Our patients have definitely helped me to feel more at home here in Alaska. The best part about working at Homer Eyecare, however, is the fantastic group of people that I am privileged to call my coworkers and friends. Everyone here encourages each other to provide the best care and service possible for our patients. We also share a common goal of continuing to educate ourselves so that we are better able to serve our patients and our community. We are truly a Homer Eyecare Family.

I was born in Maryland but traveled often due to my father being in the Air Force. I spent 8 years in Southern Illinois where I met my husband, Jacob. Shortly after getting married in 2013, we moved to Anchor Point and have been here ever since. We chose to move to this location to settle down and start a family and as of this year, we are proud parents of a baby girl. In our free time, our little family loves to explore the beauty of the Kenai Peninsula.

I joined Homer Eyecare as their Coding/Insurance Coordinator. Before joining HEC, I only had experience has a Medical biller and wow, is this different world! Dr. Peter happily teaches not

just me, but the whole team new things about the human eye every day.

This job has shown me that there is no limit to the possibilities Homer Eyecare has to offer. We all push each other to only be the best and keep looking forward to the future. Our team impresses me every day with their creativity and kindness. If you ever dreamed of a job that offers a career and a family feel environment all in one, this is the place to be.

I am a Midwest girl born and raised in central Illinois. Both of my parents taught me the importance of family, adventure, hard work, and love for the outdoors. My husband and I moved to Homer in the summer of 2016 for his job with the US Coast Guard. We could have not picked a better place to call home for the next few years.

I love to spend my free time doing just about anything and everything outside such as hiking, backpacking, mountain biking, camping, berry picking, four wheeling, and fishing. Alaska is our playground and we take full advantage of it.

Here at Homer Eyecare, I am a Patient Coordinator/Administrative Services Manager, which means I'm the first smiling face you see when you come in. I do a wide variety of tasks such as scheduling your appointment, checking you in, checking you out, and answering all of the questions you may have. I want to ensure that your experience here at Homer Eyecare is a memorable one.

My favorite thing about my job is getting to meet all of the amazing people in this community. Everyone has been so welcoming and willing to share a variety of different stories and adventures to take here in the area. My second favorite thing about my job is the amazing team that I get to work with each and every day. Each one of us here at Homer Eyecare is dedicated to providing you with the best vision care on the peninsula.

I was born and raised in Texas, where fields and pastures were more common than mountains. In the mid-nineties, my parents moved with my sister and I up Alaska, to Anchor Point. We stayed there for about a year, but my parents decided that they wanted my sister and I to grow up around family. So we moved back to Texas, but my parents missed Alaska more with each passing year. My family and I moved to Alaska permanently in 2008, and mountains became the norm.

I've lived in the Homer area for 3 years and I love the community and the atmosphere. I studied at the local college, and continue to grow and learn with the help of Homer Eyecare. I love to help people, and am grateful that being an Optician allows me to do that every day!

Alaska is my third West Coast home. I was born and raised in Cali, then moved to Oregon to raise my 2 boys. After living on a floating home just outside of Portland, Oregon I couldn’t get enough of having nature right outside my doorstep. When people ask me why I moved to Alaska the quick answer is, “Less Density; More Nature.” The ready availability to kayak, swim, sail, hike, cross-country ski, and snowshoe in Homer is hard to beat. Homer’s coastal nature and beauty takes my breath away every day – and sometimes hour by hour, moment by moment.

As the Director of Internal Operations of Homer Eyecare, I have the pleasure of working with the whole Team, Dr Peter, and our patients to bring fresh ideas, facilitate community outreach, and assure a fluid patient experience.

"To me, the real challenge is to develop the capacity to hold it all — to simultaneously feel hopeless and hopeful, and to feel horror, and be connected with beauty and love. I believe all of our hearts are big enough." -Chris Jordan

I was born and raised in Alaska, except for one year in Kansas. My father is a part of the Alaska Army National Guard and as a child, my mom had us involved with family programs. Because of this I always grew up with a tight-knit community. My childhood was spent in Juneau while my adolescent and young adult years were spent in Anchorage. While growing up my parents always had us outdoors. Whether it was rock climbing since I was 3 (my dad would pull me up the wall as I grabbed at the boulders, but still likes to tell the story) or scuba diving since I was 11 I was always going on adventures.

As I lived in Anchorage and continued my college education I found myself yearning to move somewhere, but I had no idea where I wanted to go. I started driving down to Homer to visit my boyfriend and after the first drive, I knew this was where I wanted to stay. I started casually looking for jobs. I knew if I was going to move then I wanted a job that I would wake up and look forward to each day. Enter Homer Eyecare! From their job posting, I could already sense it was somewhere I wanted to work and be a part of.

I applied excitedly to be a patient coordinator and I haven't looked back! As I grew with Homer Eyecare, my interests grew as well. I found myself interested in the science and patient connection of optical. With that, I started my training to become an optician! Helping a patient choose a pair of glasses that they not only love but helps them see clearer is such a great feeling. My goal is for you to know we may specialize with eyes, but we care about you as a whole.

When I'm not greeting you with a smiling face at work you'll find me playing with my 3 pups, out on the water, or finding new places to eat! If there are two things I'm passionate about, other than my job, it's my pups and my love for food!

I grew up in Louisiana until I was about 8 yrs old.  My family  moved a lot due to my dad being in construction. But I spent most of my life in a small town called Bladenboro, North Carolina, about 45 minutes South of Fort Bragg. It was a small town where everyone knew everyone kind of like it is here. We are a Coast Guard family of 4! We have a wild 3yr old boy that  follows the beat of his own drum and we have an 8-month old that is so curious about this big world that he lives in now! My husband and I enjoy late nights binge watching our favorite shows on TV and eating all the sweet things. We are pretty much opposite on a lot of things so life is definitely interesting! My husband is pretty much the funniest guy I know and I love corny jokes so it is pretty awesome.

Here at  Homer Eyecare, I am a Patient Coordinator. I have a little experience in the area, but I previously worked at an Animal Hospital and Hair Salon so this is all very new to me. I really enjoy being the first face you see coming through the door though! I love interacting with people. I know every day I have a chance to make someone smile and that means so much to me. The little bit of sunshine I can put in someone's life is worth it all.

Outside of work I love to spend time with family and find new adventures for us to take on.  I have a small fascination with cute little Antique stores so anywhere I can find one I am definitely in it and more than likely buying something as well. :)

I love the team here, they always lift others up and always look out for one another no matter what the situation is.
