There’s something quietly grounding about Shannon. Even-keeled, bright, sunny, engaging, intelligent, and kind, she brings a calming presence to our optical department. She believes the best teams are built on transparency, trust, and communication—and that feedback should feel like an invitation to grow, not criticism. At Homer Eyecare, that kind of mindset really matters.

Although newer to our team, Shannon already appreciates the culture of support, curiosity, and continuous learning that defines us. She’s energized by new experiences, meaningful connections, and understanding perspectives outside her own. Her international travel experiences have deepened that curiosity even further, reminding her that there are countless ways people live, connect, and care for one another.

Shannon approaches patient care with empathy first. She believes patients are the experts on their own bodies and visual experiences and that truly listening helps people feel safe, validated, and understood. Whether she’s helping a patient navigate uncertainty or simply sharing a laugh with a team member during the day, she brings a blend of warmth, humor, and authenticity that naturally puts people at ease.

When Shannon thinks about serving the Homer community, she thinks about belonging. It’s about helping create spaces where people feel welcomed, valued, and treated with dignity. As she puts it, “Community is a verb and a practice that keeps the town’s heart beating.”

Outside the clinic, some of her favorite moments are the simple ones: sipping a hot cup of coffee while overlooking the bay and mountains or listening to the sea wash over the pebbled beaches. And if you’re visiting Homer for the first time, Shannon has one important piece of local advice: watch out for the wildlife—the bears and moose are usually fine… usually.
